The Super Mario Galaxy Movie
Introduction
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is the latest animated feature based on the world of Super Mario, following The Super Mario Bros. Movie (2023). Produced by Illumination and Nintendo, the film brings Mario and Luigi back for a new adventure that expands beyond the Mushroom Kingdom and into outer space. The film is directed by Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic, who also directed the 2023 film, with a screenplay by Matthew Fogel. Brian Tyler returns to compose the score. The film is co-financed by Universal Pictures and Nintendo and distributed worldwide by Universal Pictures. While the 2023 The Super Mario Bros. Movie established the animated cinematic version of the Mushroom Kingdom, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie expands the setting into a larger cosmic adventure. The film's story introduces space travel, Rosalina and Luma alongside familiar characters, giving the animated Mario universe a substantially broader setting.
