About
Hawkins is fictional (set in 1980s Indiana), but the Netflix hit—created by the Duffer Brothers—was almost entirely filmed in Georgia, leveraging Atlanta's status as a major production hub.
Seasons 1–5 used metro Atlanta suburbs, small towns, quarries, and abandoned buildings for that nostalgic Midwestern feel. Key locations include Jackson (Downtown Hawkins), Gwinnett Place Mall (Starcourt), and Westside Park (The Quarry).
Updates as of 2026: Season 5 (final season) wrapped filming in Georgia. Westside Park (former Bellwood Quarry) is fully open with trails and overlooks. Many locations remain accessible, though some (like the Lab building) have been demolished.
