Ghostbusters (1984) blended real Manhattan streets, historic landmarks, and public spaces with studio work to create its authentic, chaotic New York energy.
Directed by Ivan Reitman, the film turned everyday NYC into a supernatural playground. While interiors were mostly filmed in Los Angeles, the exteriors of the Firehouse, Library, and "Spook Central" are iconic real-world locations.
Updates as of 2026: Hook & Ladder Company 8 is still a fully operational FDNY station and hosts annual Ghostbusters Day celebrations in June. It remains the definitive pilgrimage site for fans.

The Most Iconic Ghostbusters HQ. This 1903 Beaux-Arts FDNY firehouse served as the exterior for the Ghostbusters headquarters. Featured in all main franchise films.
