How did Steve Rogers become Captain America?

Steve Rogers was a frail young man rejected from military service during WWII. He volunteered for **Project Rebirth**, where he was injected with Dr. Abraham Erskine's **Super Soldier Serum** and bombarded with **Vita-Rays**, transforming him into the pinnacle of human physical potential.

What is his shield made of?

In the movies (MCU), it is made of pure **Vibranium**, a rare metal from Wakanda that absorbs kinetic energy. In the comics, it is a unique proto-adamantium alloy (Vibranium + Steel + unknown catalyst).

How did he survive being frozen?

Steve crashed the **Valkyrie** bomber into the Arctic ice in 1945. The **Super Soldier Serum** in his blood prevented his body's fluids from crystallizing, placing him in a state of suspended animation until he was discovered by S.H.I.E.L.D. nearly 70 years later.

Who is the new Captain America?

After Steve Rogers retired (in *Avengers: Endgame*), he passed the shield to **Sam Wilson** (The Falcon). Sam officially took up the mantle in the series *The Falcon and the Winter Soldier*.

James Buchanan "**Bucky**" Barnes was Steve's childhood best friend. Thought dead in WWII, he was captured by HYDRA, brainwashed, and given a cybernetic arm to become the assassin known as the **Winter Soldier**. He eventually regained his memories and joined the Avengers.

Can Captain America lift Thor's hammer?

Yes! In *Avengers: Endgame*, Steve Rogers proved he was **worthy** to wield **Mjolnir**, using it to fight Thanos. In the comics, he has also lifted it on several occasions.
