Story
High-level synopsis and narrative focus.
A Japanese manga series about Asta, a boy born without magic in a world where magic is everything, who aims to become the Wizard King alongside his rival Yuno.
World
Setting, cultures, and distinctive elements.
The world of Black Clover centers on the Clover Kingdom, a society where magic is everything. Social status is determined by magical power, dividing the populace into the Forsaken Realm (peasants), Common Realm, and Noble Realm (royalty). To the west lies the Diamond Kingdom (militaristic), to the south the Heart Kingdom (natural mana users), and to the north the Spade Kingdom (devil hosts).
At age 15, all citizens attend the Grimoire Acceptance Ceremony to receive their grimoires, which enhance their magical abilities. The Magic Knights are the kingdom's military force, led by the Wizard King. Merit and magical power define one's worth, though Asta challenges this by striving to become Wizard King without magic.
