What genre of game is Arknights?

**Arknights** is a strategic **Tower Defense RPG** with gacha mechanics. Unlike traditional tower defense games, you deploy "Operators" (characters) with unique classes, skills, and stats. It emphasizes tactical planning, timing, and squad composition over pure reflexes.

Is Arknights free-to-play friendly?

**Yes.** Arknights is widely considered one of the most F2P-friendly gacha games. * All content can be cleared with low-rarity (3★ and 4★) units. * There is no PvP, so there is no "pay-to-win" pressure. * The game provides free premium currency (Orundum) through daily/weekly missions and the Annihilation mode.

The **Doctor** is the player character and the tactical commander of **Rhodes Island**. You start the game with amnesia, having just been rescued from a sarcophagus. You are a brilliant strategist and a researcher dedicated to finding a cure for Oripathy, but your past is shrouded in mystery involving a dark, ruthless history.

**Oripathy** is a terminal, infectious disease caused by exposure to Originium (a high-energy mineral). * **Effects**: It crystallizes the body and grants magical powers called "Arts," but eventually kills the host. * **Social Impact**: The "Infected" are discriminated against and persecuted in most nations, driving the central conflict of the story.

Who is Amiya and why is she important?

**Amiya** is the public leader (CEO) of Rhodes Island and the main heroine. She is a Cautus (rabbit traits) / Chimera who is deeply infected with Oripathy. She is the successor to the late Theresa and fights to build a future where Infected and non-Infected can live together. She is the only 5★ Operator given for free who can be promoted to a 6★ status later in the story.

How does the Gacha system work?

The gacha (Headhunting) uses a currency called Orundum. * **Rates**: 2% for a 6★ Operator. * **Pity System**: If you don't pull a 6★ in 50 pulls, the rate increases by 2% for every subsequent pull until guaranteed. * **Standard Banners**: Rotate regularly, allowing you to buy specific 6★ operators with "Distinctions" (gold certs) in the shop.

What is 'Sanity' in Arknights?

**Sanity** is the game's stamina system. Every stage requires a certain amount of Sanity to play. It regenerates over time (1 point every 6 minutes) or can be refilled using items (Sanity Potions) or Originite Prime (premium currency). The lore implication is that the Doctor needs rest to maintain mental clarity for commanding battles.

Is there an Arknights anime?

Yes, there is an official anime adaptation produced by Yostar Pictures. 1. **Season 1**: *Arknights: Prelude to Dawn* (2022) - Covers the opening arc. 2. **Season 2**: *Arknights: Perish in Frost* (2023) - Covers the FrostNova arc. The anime is praised for its cinematic quality and faithful adherence to the game's serious tone.

What is Arknights: Endfield?

**Arknights: Endfield** is an upcoming 3D real-time strategy RPG spin-off set on a different planet (Talos-II). It features new characters and gameplay mechanics (base building, open-world exploration) but shares the same worldview and deep lore as the original game.

What are the different Operator classes?

Operators are divided into 8 main classes: 1. **Vanguard**: Low cost, generate deployment points (DP). 2. **Guard**: Melee DPS (versatile). 3. **Defender**: High defense/HP tanks. 4. **Sniper**: Ranged physical DPS (anti-air). 5. **Caster**: Ranged Arts (magic) DPS (anti-armor). 6. **Medic**: Healers. 7. **Supporter**: Buffs, debuffs, and summons. 8. **Specialist**: Unique gimmicks (push/pull, fast redeploy).
